56% of the 97.5 million votes cast on the "American Idol season 7" finale went to David Cook. Despite the judges presumption that the other David (Archuleta) would win, Cook took the first prize. "Evil" judge Simon Cowell apologized to Cook, saying that his remarks on Tuesday were "verging on disrespectful." Minutes later, Cook won the competition.
